"Put the A4 in a business line or your allotment of Durons will be reduced."... or
"For each A4 PC sold in a business line, you get one free Duron"

The first one won't work when sales are slow esp. if you are the number 2 guy.

The second one might work but I hope you can get enough for those A4s so you don't slaughter your ASPs even more by giving the Duron away. Some people might say "ASPs have allready gone down so much they can't really go down further", but thats no more true then thinking that a stock can't go down anymore because its allready gone in to the toilet.

Petz,

Bad idea.

"For each A4 PC sold in a business line, you get one free Duron"

Slightly better, but Durons are already almost free.

How about this. AMD offers this deal to Tier 1s: Any company that will be the first fo ship 250,000 processors in commercial sector will have these CPUs for free. The runner-up will have 125,000 CPUs for free.

This would be a desperate move, but these are desperate times, since it appears that there is exactly 0% chance of AMD landing a commercial win using "conventional" marketing methods.

Would that be something like Mexico trying to play hardball with the US, or Luxembourg with Germany? Sometimes I do wonder what Sanders' relationship is with the big OEMs. You never see them together in the news together, as you do Barrett, or formerly Grove with the Dells and Capellas' of the world.
