How much of the 26.2 billion KWHR expected to be produced by petroleum in Q4 2001 will stay on #6 oil and/or #2 if NG prices become more favorable. This electric demand is equivalent to ~300 bcf depending on the average heat rate.

As long as NG is not curtailed during severe weather if prices become low enough and capability exists to switch I imagine these plants would be jumping all over <$2.50 NG.

If the system is full and operating system pressure is high curtailments will be fewer.

I'll take $1.80 on 12/31/01. (just in time to write down all those NG reserves booked at $10.00 per Mcf last year)

I'll take a stab at $2.75 on Sept 7 01. Suspecting that the futures players prevent natgas from seeing a normal low on anticipation of future demand. Of course, I know nothing in comparsion to most on this thread.

You may have seen the lows. The so called "blowdown" situation could almost have been predicted. Now it is hitting some US gas fields and may change the outlook.

Put me down for $2.50 for the lowest price on October 20,2001.

BTW NRC lists two nuclear plants powering down for refueling outages this weekend. North Anna in VA. & Peach Bottom in PA. Refueling takes some time doesnt it?

Looks like some NG demand coming back soon.
