Yes, and that we also show the same respect for our children is important also. Always let them know that it is in theirs and the families best interest when you are questioned about a decision that they find hard to live by. Let them know that sometimes life is hard and that there will always be differing opinions. Raise them to be tolerant of diversity.

Maybe you won't get much argument? We didn't start arguing with ours until they were adults.

Love the heck out of them and especially love your wife.

BTW, the most important word you used in your post (outside of love, but that's a given) is "consistent." Children thrive on consistency.
