It's been a slow drift down in tech, accompanied by bullish sentiment. PMs are a panic or inflation play. They overshot on the big run-up, and now gold may be moving again.

Have gold stocks been a safe haven since April you ask?

Well, actually cash equivalents the epitome of the safe haven because they are riskless except when the currency is debased during an inflationary cycle.

But if the real question is have the gold stocks been more profitable than the tech sub-sectors sinc April?

Let's look at HUI, the pure precious metals index, compared to the CSFB Technology Index, the computer box index, and a telecom index.

Then, stock selection is the name of the game once you go beyond playing with indices. Let's look at how one of my favs GLG (mentioned for months in my S.D. posts or here) has performed vs the HUI.

If you don't already own some gold stocks? You might want to consider averaging in on dips, focusing on the ones your own DD indentifies will do well in the future.
