Re: It just goes to show that from this point forward, power consumption is going to be an increasing concern. Fortunately, almost all the major CPU manufacturers are going to SOI, which can cut power demand by 1/3 to 2/3s. IBM, AMD, Motorola - almost every tier 1 CPU manufacturer has recognized this issue and is moving to the process technology that solves the problem. A handful of the usual technology laggards such as TI and some of the smaller Asian FABs will wait till the next cycle to implement this technology.
