Bill,

Yeah... I guess I must like talking to the wall. I sadly
(and stupidly) bought into CHY after I did only a cursory
review of the company (following a "hot tip" from a
"reliable source") back around February 2000. We went up
amazingly fast in the weeks following my purchase and I
thought I'd really lucked into something great... but my
"reliable source" just said "look into this one" (not "try
to pick up a quick buck and get out quickly") and, based
on the background of my source, I mistakenly presumed this
one was a keeper for the long term. Now its so far below
my purchase price I either keep it or throw it away...
so I keep watching out of the corner of my eye, hoping
that we'll survive and eventually see some better days.
Maybe I'll sell if I can use the losses.

The confusing thing about this company is that they *do*
have a well-respected brand, a blue-chip customer base,
and a sought-after suite of products... but they've got
lousy management & financial controls/sense, lots of
competition (which pushes their prices/margins down),
and a market that has no incentive to "get one up on
the competition" by moving to the next/newest & greatest
technology available. So customers drag their feet in
making purchases, waiting until they get bug-free products
at rock-bottom prices.

Will digital TV ever make it? How about interactive TV?
How about delivering live video content over the Internet?
CHY investors have kept waiting for the "next big thing"
to get here but, somehow, it never does... and management
adjusts the company size/capacity not so that its "just
barely making a profit" but so that its "just barely making
a loss"; that keeps us investors in white knuckle territory
waiting for the 'going concern' warning flags to be raised
just before the final Chapter 11 filing.

Sigh.

DUET Family Sees Continuing Growth in Europe

MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 2001--Chyron
Corporation (OTC BB: CYRO - news), a leading provider of
broadcast technology, announced that two long-standing
current customers, Studio Hamburg and France Television,
expanded their existing DUET purchases.

Studio Hamburg, one of Germany's most prestigious facilities,
added 6 Chyron DUET character generators, to provide enhanced
facilities for its major client, German broadcaster RTL. In
addition, Chyron announced the sale of 5 further DUET high-
end graphics systems to France 3 - part of France Television
- making the total number installed 6.

``We are very excited by the success of DUET and its
continued growth in Europe,'' commented Roger Henderson,
President and Chief Executive Officer of Chyron. ``The DUET
purchases by Studio Hamburg and France Television further
strengthens our presence in the European markets.''

Studio Hamburg chose the DUET because of its flexibility and
outstanding on-air graphics performance. These DUETs are an
essential part of new channel branding and graphics imaging
and are utilised for pre-recorded as well as live programs.

``Duet allows us to make a smooth transition from our
existing systems to state-of-the-art graphics technology''
commented Frank Howner, Head of Graphics for Studio Hamburg.
Explaining, ``Since each Duet is equipped with an internal
clip player, we can easily match RTL's on-air look by adding
moving backgrounds to the lower-thirds.''

France 3 continues its long-term relationship with Chyron
derived from its extensive use of their iNFiNiT! range of
character generators and the fact that maintaining the file
structure between old and new machines gives them total
backwards compatibility, as well as significant cost savings.

``Indispensable'' is how Gilles Maurel, O.B. Chief Engineer,
now describes their DUET. Continuing, ``Being able to import
files within our internal environment, as well as sourcing
files from the Web, is fast becoming invaluable. We also have
an outstanding relationship with Chyron France, and took full
advantage of the technical and operational training offered.
It's the efficiency and reliability of the equipment,
together with the trust and confidence we have in the people,
that makes Chyron the only choice.''

The DUET is an open-system framework that can interconnect to
intelligent processing modules with a real-time operating
system. This provides an extremely fast graphics engine on
which Lyric, Chyron's advanced graphics creation application
resides, providing sophisticated yet flexible 2-D and 3-D
composition tools for intensive graphics and animations. DUET
is renown for its simplicity of use, which reduces training
requirements and aids productivity, thanks to the Windows
NT(TM) operating system resident within the system.

Up 50% today on unusually large trading volume!

Close: $0.45/share... up $0.15 on 231,700 shares traded.

Okay... 15 cents/share isn't very large in absolute terms.
Still, after such a long long time with a crappy share
price its good to see a significant jump up... and it
seems to be based on solid news too. At the very least,
it appears we're not headed into bankruptcy and that
means we have time to rise up from the ashes. I still have
a long way to go before I reach break-even on this stock.
