Re: "Rush Limbaugh wrote and sold two of the most successful political books of the past 20 years. Given your theory, how do you explain that?"

His book sales are the result of his radio show, not the result of deep thinking. Limbaugh is not well-educated. I believe he dropped out of SEMSU his freshman year. He's a showman. He was a rock and roll DJ for a while. He worked in the promotions department of the K.C. Royals for a while. What he is is a very capable huckster.

He ain't no William F. Buckley.

There's a reason you never see Limbaugh in a TV debate format a la Keyes/Buchanan. There's a reason Rush never appears on TV except for 1-on-1 softball interviews with the likes of Russert. There's a reason he never appears in any setting where there's legitimate feedback. There's a reason he has never taken his schtick to college campuses.

He's an extremely narrowly focused basher to the piss-and-vinegar segment of society that buys his books.

Sorry, Michael, he ain't a deep thinker.
He tells you what you want to hear. He supplies a right-wing "fix" to millions of Americans every day.

Kind of pathetic, really.
