Tony Blair was smart making a special effort to make the uncomfortable, stiff, confused (and maybe angry) Bush feel wanted when he entertained him in England. You could see the earnest effort Blair was making. Because he fears for the alliance if Bush the man becomes as isolated as his policies already are.

Our allies are aware that Bush with all his money and free time has only been out of the US twice before he was President, unless you count Mexico. Hard to believe Bush has no curiosity or concern about the rest of the world.

Big big mistake backing out of Kyoto without at least offering a positive compromise. Blame Cheney and the Energy Cartel for that one? Europeans really care about the environment and are making huge efforts to prepare for the inevitable damage brought on by larger populations.

Also big mistake pushing Star Wars as a "we'll do it ourselves if you won't help us" number one priority. Star Wars won't even make it through the Senate either so what's Bush thinking? Are a majority of Americans even behind Star Wars? It would sure surprise me if they were. Especially as we're already borrowing money to pay for the Bush tax cut. The US military is even having second thoughts about Star Wars as it drains all their other human soldier based programs, including a lot of the stuff Bush promised them campaigning and some very crucial programs that are much more pressing.
