IBM abolished sick days more than 30 years ago.....since then if you're sick and need to take the day off you're paid. If you miss 5 or more days in a row, you need an MD's certification. The result of the plan is that they found that many less sick days were taken than when each employee got a certain number of sick days and used them for vacation. IMHO, sick days should not be allowed to be used as vacation and should not be payed for when a person retires.
