If John Kerry runs he's got to make sure people know he's not Bob Kerrey. But both were heros. It was the war itself that got unheroic. I know I was like GW and Cheney, afraid to go to Vietnam so I would have used any connection to stay out. Got to admire educated men who could have gotten out like the Kerrys for not only volunteering but going all the way to the pinnacles of soldiering. McCain too of course. And even Gore. Al took a lot of flack during the campaign but he actually volunteered for infantry duty, something neither hawk Bush nor Cheney had the guts to do. And it was Nixon not Gore's father who protected young Al there. He didn't want him killed because that would get Al Sr. sympathy and get him re-elected. Bottomline all this about democrats being anti-military is hokey. It's not the party it's the man. And I must say they don't come any more admirable or qualified than John Kerry. He also has the looks and the money.
