That assumes that you can't live without owning your own home. There's always renting, and as the resale market slows, lease rates drop. Reentry can wait 'till the bubble runs it's course. But you DO have a good point in that the residential RE market AIN'T the stock market, it's a hell of a lot less liquid (which also makes it a hell of a lot MORE risky in the event some liquidity problems show up, IE, default issues at the GSE's for example).
