Deforestation is another problem. With northern forests regrowth can take a hundred years. The lumber companies here leave a small swath of trees along the roads and highways behind that the landscape is decimated.

The forest cover in the US has not been declining much. (in some other areas deforestation is more of a problem). What has been occurring though is that old growth forests have been replaced with "tree farms", with faster growing wood that is cut down and replaced and regrown as fast as possible.

Another problem is genetically modified crops. It took mother nature and humans 10,000 years to develop crops that work. Then with gleeful abandon we change it over a course of 10 years.

I disagree with you here. Genetically modified crops have been a big benefit and will become even more important in the future.
