canada ? well, i'd certainly recommend franco nevada and some canadian commodity stocks if you are so inclined...i hear noranda is now on the nyse, i think the symbol is ndr...and the divvie is ok. nothing wrong with the aussie funds you mention. you might also want to consider our banks, a canuck bank index fund was mentioned in the article i linked...this would be only the 5 big banks in canada as far as i understand...or if you want to get cute, buy royal bank and keep selling calls on it...eventually you'll get called away and you'll probably have a return that trounces even the aussie funds...the banks here are probably a safe haven for the nortel crowd right now...

the problem with acquiring dividend paying stocks as i see it is i think they are expensive now. i know a guy who gets 60k canadian divvie income a year but to assemble his portfolio now would probably cost several times what he paid...

oh yeah i think you can get trans canada pipe on nyse too...
