my modem failed two months ago. Dell after two hours on the phone set a tech to the house. It took two trips for him to get me up. The system is three years old. dell also has an on line help desk. I paid $100 for the 3 year in house service contract(expires Jan03). ... take care John

ps I believe, if you do get a hardware problem and no maintenance contract you have to ship the unit back to dell.
I would just take it to a local service guy. OH, my system was a rebuilt bought over the net. they have the same complete warranity.

jdn, i m a long term faithful dell shareholder & buy DELL for myself. I will admit i was very frustrated w. dell when industry was HOT, but lately I m getting great services so I think dell has got hints that they have been laxed and they are fixing up things. Also, some times you will get a technician that is not good but then you speak to higher authority. If you asked me should I buy in dell in y2k I would have said no, but today I say buy Only dell. (if u must by pc). Belive me, I do shop around time to time and come bak to same conclusion esepcially if u r buying noteobok (U will need good service). there is nothing to think about just buy dell (please?)...
dell is up 50%+ ytd and gtw is falling of the earth, why?
