My guess is that, in the short term, strong buying interest could be awakened by one of two very different things (or even by both, I suppose, over the longer term), a powerful upsurge out of the narrowing trading range, perhaps on the heels of positive guidance from AMAT and/or DELL or strong confirmation that the economy has bottomed, or a serious price collapse, perhaps on the heels of opposite indications. I don't really expect either, and I wonder whether anything that happens before Labor Day, short of the sun exploding, will be fully "believed."
