"Those who choose to remain are shoveled off into small regions, struggling to maintain their right of existence under harsh living conditions "

Stretching Limited Resources

Israel's agricultural development has always been challenged by the country's scarcity of arable land and water resources.

When Jews began resettling their historic homeland in the late 19th century, their first efforts were directed towards reclaiming the land, mostly semi-arid, while much of the rest had been rendered untillable by deforestation, soil erosion and neglect. Rocky fields were cleared, and terraces built in the hilly regions; swampland was drained, and systematic reforestation begun; erosion of the loess soil of the coastal plain and the south was counteracted, and salty land washed to reduce soil salinity.

Actually, that's a P*ss Poor analogy...

The Jews BOUGHT the majority of their land from the previous owners, both Palestinian and Turkish, after the "Young Turks" assumed control over Turkey. They purchased some 2 million Dunams (500,000 acres) of land with funds made available through their financials sources, including Baron Rothschild (search Dr. Arthur Ruppin, Rothschild, PICA, and Jewish National Fund) in 1908-1911. And such purchases continued for decades afterward.

This was a requirement placed upon them by the Turks who were responsible to maintaining peace and quiet in that part of their territory. And the Turks certainly didn't display any particular love of Jews in preference to the Palestinians. But they sure loved the money, and the fact that most of Palestine was considered a wasteland at the time. They encouraged economic development because it would create employment opportunities for everyone, including the native population.

The purchasing of land by Jews from local Palestinians (especially the wealthier Arabs and Palestinians who already owned most of the territory in the region) was a process that continued through 1948 and the war of independence. Remember... the Jews were not looked upon with any favor by ANY occupier of the region, including the British. They DID NOT, and WOULD NOT permit the Jews to just confiscate territory from the Arabs. There would have been riots in the streets if the British were seen as stealing land and giving it to the Jews.

But the memory is short, and the Palestinians prefer not to acknowledge that so many of them greedily took their respective 30 pieces of silver in exchange for selling their "homeland". If they had cared so much, they wouldn't have sold for any price.

But now, they wish to forget the legal sales and purchases of the majority of land that is owned by Israel now. They want to renege on the financial contracts of their parents and grandparents, merely because they think it was done illegally.

And then in 1948, rather than joining the large percentage of Palestinians and Druze who chose to integrate into Israel, they sided with the enemy, or fled into Egypt, or the West Bank (immediately occupied and annexed by Jordan.) and abandoning their homes.

What's always been particularly "amusing" to me (in a cynical way), is how the Palestinians constantly complained about Israel "occupying" the West Bank after they attacked by Jordan in 1967. But FEW OF THEM COMPLAINED about the fact that Jordan had already been occupying them since 1948 and had actually annexed them as part of that country, something that Israel has not done.

And the Jordanians economically stripped the West Bank from 1948 to 1967 like some neo-colonial imperialist power, deriving some 40% of their GDP from their newly annexed territory. Furthermore, they invested only the most minimal amount of money in the region. When Israel captured this Jordanian territory in 1967, they IMMEDIATELY COMMENCED MASSIVE INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS, connecting Jerusalem and the surrounding area to Israels power and water systems.

And even today, some 30-40% of the Palestinian population on the West Bank depends upon Israel for jobs, and almost the entire territory relies upon the Jews for water and power.

So if the Jews were so damn oppressive, one would think they'd cut the Palestinians off completely and leave them to fend for themselves.

Lord knows that Arafat has little interest in being an economic leader... He just wants to attack and raid Israel of it economic wealth. Don't build it for yourself with all the financial assistance he extorts from his oil producing "supporters"... just take it from the Jews by driving them into the sea.

So don't buy all this BS about Jews stealing Palestine from the Arabs... There are always exceptions, but as a majority, Israel either purchased, or obtained through justifiable conquest from aggressing nations, the territory currently under their control.

And they gave back the entire Sinai peninsula to Egypt in the interest of making peace. What have the Arabs given up? Jordan only gave up territory that never belonged to them in the first place, and which they used to launch unprovoked attacks against the Jews in some form of racist war to wipe out the Jews.

Take my "excellent analogy" to its true conclusion. That European descendants have no right to the lands now known as the United States.

Do you agree?
