Nope. That was from the days when AMD was the primary second source for Intel. I don't know what kind of deals were made.

As far as the 8-186 being a failure, I can only guess he was referring to the desktop. AFAIK, the only desktop machine that used it was a Radio Shack machine, model 2000?
