John, I'll have to pass on the question since I have not reinstalled an OS in ages. Help should come soon.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with WinMe either. Here's an article on installation.

windows-help.net

You should save your address book and password list and favorites from your windowsme before formatting. That will save you some time and trouble after reinstalling.

Assuming you are using Internet Explorer as your browser you can transfer your favs by going to file/import-export/export favs and save your favs to a floppy and then on the new machine do the same thing except choose import. If you use outlook express you can transfer your address book by going to start/find files and folders(search? in winme)/ type in *.wab and copy the file that is probably called (yourname).wab to a floppy. Set up mail on your new computer and then replace the new empty (yourname).wab with the one you put on the floppy. Do the same thing for passwords by looking for *.pwl.

Now...one question...why would you want an image that is already corrupted? All you would seem to be doing is saving mistakes. Wait until you get the OS reinstalled and start imaging from there.

John, it looks like you got good advice already. Here's some more: write down all your ISP settings, like phone number, server names etc. It may save you a call to support.
The simplest way would be to display these onscreen and take screen shots which you then save on floppies.
