I have a polygamist living here. At first he was happy and free and full of coltish illusions, then he got to breeding age and was turned out with an old mare that taught him manners and respect for female kind. Now he is turned out with 3-5. This poor animal after a successful show career cannot eat his hay or grain without getting a nod of approval from his harem. On a hot day like today the mares stand around the water trough with one hind foot slightly raised and poised to kick out. He stands just out of kick range with a worried look on his poor face. If he irritates even one of them they all sneer and scream and fly at him.
