You don't under the issue I was addressing. The US government depends on the National Petroleum Council, founded by Truman to be a non-partisan body. It is now linked to the Energy Department and every congress and president depends on them for accurate non-partisan assessments of our national needs. Well guess what all of a sudden? The NPC leadership which included Cheney is now acting like an Energy lobbyist promoting Big Oil's expansion into wildlands, and they used phony statistics and misleading estimates to hoodwink us all into backing Bush's Big Energy Plan (including 33 billion in givesaways to Big Oil, our money) and into thinking:

1) There's a lot more natural gas under the Rockies than there really is
2) That it's accessible without pulverizing the environment
3) That it will do more good than harm.
4) That it won't run out soon and be abandoned leaving sites soiled for centuries

Just the opposite is the reality as proved by the LA Times front page headline article I posted.

- Furthermore you remember Bush and Cheney lecturing us about how Clinton/Gore didn't have an energy policy and only they the Experts could fix that. Well, lo and behold, not only did energy prices go way up once Bush/Cheney took power but drilling under Clinton was actually very active, more than during Reagan's year. And their estimates that we'll be in a big crunch if we don't re-double drilling, open up all the wildlands and parks and oceans, and that we need 1900 polluting and nuke power plants, turn out to not only be an extreme exaggerations, but BIG FAT LIES.

Who would benefit from their plan if we were big enough suckers to back it? Just follow the money. They're high-pressured congress into backing the odious plan out of party loyalty but not only must the Senate stop it, but stop it cold. It's like giving the crown jewels to pirates for safe keeping. They'll sell it off then disappear. All tax-free too if you consider the 33 billion in tax credits Bush-Cheney are offering them. And Big Energy just gouged us for a lot more than 33 billion. What do they need our help for? Cheating lying corrupt crooks, baby. You heard it here. And we could give a damn about Monica BJ. That's the only issue the GOP has when it comes to Clinton, it cost us all a lot to find out about it, it resulted in a ridiculous impeachment proceeding and it's just sordid dirty politics at its worst. Nothing more. Then Bush-Cheney and crew rip us off for 50 billion and want three times that at the expense of some of the most beautiful wildlands in our country and you look the other way. Get your priorities straight.
