"The world has looked up to us in recent years but suddenly with Bush-Cheney no longer"

Yes, the whole world looked for the US for leadership and found great results during Clinton years and now we are a country standing alone and even our allies just condescending to US bullying because it is better to quell the giant than to get squished. It will change but will take a while

re: Enron and Duke

In the 1st quater of 2001 (downloaded from IEPA)
Duke sold 808,758 MW to CA DWR $118M or $146/MWhr
Enron sold 246,800MW to CA DWR $ 45M or $181/MWhr
LADWP sold 805,475MW to CA DWR $235M or $292/MWhr
BPA sold 461,144MW to CA DWR $141M or $305/MWhr
(BPA is a Federal agency)
Powerex sold 804,302MW to CA for $400M or $498/MWhr
(I believe that Powerex is owned by British Columbia)

California is building gas fired power plants like mad, How would CA reduce greenhouse gases below 1990 to meet Kyoto? Electric and Hydrogen powered cars will require many more power plants. Electricity is needed to charge batteries or, break the Oxygen-Hydrogen (to get hydrogen from water) bond not to mention compressing hydrogen to liquid form.

btw. I heard that spot prices for electricity hit $1000 per MWhr last week in the Northeast (NY and MASS). I guess "Officer" Jeffords is on recess (though I thought he's from that part of the country).
