You didn't offend Karen. Considering the Canadian social net the only reason to be in the USA would be for work. I know a Mexican couple who were in the US illegally and are now in Canada illegally working for the same Americans. They were dropped off south of the Canadian border told to run 1 mile west and four miles north and they would be picked up on the other side. Really nice people, I'm thinking of hiring them because where in the ten commandments does it say I can't.
