I hope this doesn't happen. I'd love to see Rush on TV, but CNN??!! It's too awful to contemplate...

CNN in discussions with Rush Limbaugh

CNN, which is on record saying it wants to lure major star power to its ranks, is talking to ultra-popular conservative radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh.

Although it's unclear exactly what executives have in mind, possibilities may include creating a show around Limbaugh or simulcasting his daily radio broadcast, along the lines of MSNBC's simulcast of Imus in the Morning.

Limbaugh couldn't be reached to comment. CNN spokeswoman Christa Robinson said Sunday, ''We aren't going to comment on anyone we may be talking to.''

Landing Limbaugh would be a major coup for CNN, but it would make for an odd pairing.

For years, Limbaugh, the media darling of right-wing Republicans, has called CNN ''the Clinton News Network'' on his radio show.

Although chances of getting Limbaugh appear remote, doing so could neutralize continuing allegations from conservatives that CNN leans left.

Walter Isaacson tacitly acknowledged such a problem Aug. 2 when, in one of his first acts as CNN president, he traveled to Capitol Hill to meet with Republican leaders to hear their concerns about CNN.

Carolyn,

That was never going to happen anyway. As is the case with many offensive posts, and threats of violence, everyone is hiding behind a monitor in relative safety.
