A few weeks ago when we were talking about Afghanistan, I recall reflecting on the deprivation of the women of Afghanistan as I was taking my swim. I found this article in today's Post. It's long so I won't post the whole thing. Some of you might find it interesting. Some Muslims who are recent immigrants have never gone swimming before, because of a lack of access to pools or safe bodies of water in their homelands. Converts, such as Hassan, were also thrilled with the idea because they missed swimming and wanted a way to enjoy the pastime while still following Islamic guidelines. "I have always loved swimming, and I have wanted to do this for so long," said Hassan, 27, who used to swim in a bikini at public pools before she converted to Islam.
