This is the conclusion:
The successful use of xanthine
derivatives such as propentofylline or AIT-082 in the experimental treatment of human neurodegenerative disorders opens a new era in the development of therapeutic strategies based on purine
derivatives. The data reviewed in this paper indicates that this may be just the beginning of an interesting and rewarding approach for the therapy of many diverse neurological problems.
