I read a bit about the worthless stock options he left and the 'being closer to family' explanation used for leaving. Can anyone tell me if all bridges were cut between he and INSP? I know he is no longer there or on the BOD, but is there still any rapport? I read with interest a couple months ago about Kolberg Kravis & Roberts hiring Sarin to head up Accel Partners. As Accel was specific in the mission to acquire investments and/or whole companies in the 'beat up' telco sector, I wanted to pay attention to any developements they may be doing. Anyway... here are some previous posts on the subject... ************************ It is accepted knowledge that KK&R is in the financial BIG LEAGUES. SARIN will be investing/acquiring in the wireless sector. If INSP is truly on track to be even a quarter of what MSFT is, then Sarin will surely buy a piece of INSP. He knows INSP from the INSIDE OUT as well as the poison pill clause to prevent takeover. Maybe a sizable investment or indeed a takeover, but again, if INSP is going to be what it holds out to be...Then SARIN will not want to miss the opportunity...KK&R is simply about making money. If SARIN/KK&R begins to put together the INSP business model through acquisition, then lookout. INSP is going to be in a race and need a big money backer to compete. KK&R has the money to get it done. Questions: Sarin is on the Board of SCHWAB, we recently pickup up Schwab account. Was that a Board level decision? SARIN is on the VOD board. We had VOD account before SARIN left INSP. Did he bring that account in while at INSP? We lost some of the VOD business after SARIN left INSP. Didn't we? Again was SARIN involved with that decision? Does anyone have an idea of the professional and personal opinions and relationship that now exists between SARIN and INSP? ********************************* ********************************** ...The KK&R move in hiring SARIN for investment and acquisition in the telco sector speaks volumes for what is about to take place. KK&R has major deep pockets, they themselves have announced desire to start buying in the 'out of favor' telco and wireless area. I have no reason to think that INSP is not positioned most excellently in this area, is distressed or at least under book value. So it is time to see if SARIN feels the same way. If INSP has been too complex for wall street to figure out up until now, then SARIN can still get in on the ground floor of the company he headed and should understand the potential. BUT he also knows the market, the business plan, and the head start INSP has. If he chooses to 'buy and acquire their way around INSP and move into the same business, then they have the capital to make a run. So I am looking to see how strong SARIN is w/INSP because of the obvious. I'd love to see KK&R buy up a big chunk of the float... *************kkr.com accel.com www.accel-kkr.com/press/releases_07182001.html
