Your article made me wish I could pass a state law requiring that all legislators and all state employees making more than $50,000 per year have their computer usage monitored to the maximum extent permitted by law for any employees in the state. That would change state law in a hurry!

I don't like the idea of having my internet useage monitored (they might decide I am spending too much time on SI and not getting enough work done :) But it is the companies computers and internet connection, and while you are working the company is paying for the time as well. I don't think it should be illegal for them to monitor your computer or internet useage. I could see a requirement that they notify you that you are subject to monitoring before you are monitored.
