catman,

I absolutely agree with you. Knowledge brings a great deal of responsibility and the need for humility. I can't stand when discussions turn into pissing matches. Who cares if you work "in da bizness", who cares if you wrote a book, who cares if you're the greatest trader since Jessie, you still have to pass that knowledge along with great care. It goes back to the way folks have learned everything important over the course of time, ie, the oral tradition, from the elders to the youngsters, from the gurus to the initiates.

From "up close" I can tell you that the community actually looks darker and meaner than it does from a distance. After 20 years in the biz world in a garbage industry (insurance) before my "new" profession, I can deal with it and give it back when I have to, but I certainly don't enjoy the bloodletting.

Alan

Catman, you are spot-on. But, don't be discouraged -- there are a lot of threads on SI (and elsewhere -- many on better BBS systems with superior operating guidelines). So there are plenty of places to efficiently find regular, substantial trading educational forums with a better signal to noise ratio.
