All trifles. Cheney raised 23 million from oil and HMO lobbyists in his home, GOP fundraisers in foreign embassies, Haley Barbour fundraising in Asia from non-nationals, and everything else I have described which is much-much bigger than any of this. You can obsess on Clinton's sex life if you want but he survived with 60% approval ratings and who cares. As for everything else in Whitewater it all came up empty. And many innocent people suffered during that dishonest partisan witch-hunt as a result. "Travelgate" how ridiculous. That was all rumor and no fact and was all about $20,000 or something. Sleeping in the Lincoln bedroom? Why not? Every soft money lobbyist in DC has been to the White House and almost zero moderate Senators of Bush's own party. Whitewater land deal? The CLinton's lost money. Some insider deal. Much more important, how about Bush getting Campaign finance reform torpedoed? The dishonest 33 billion+++ giveaway Energy Plan forced through congress. Impossible to enact Faith-Based vote buying program plugged as compassionate? Tax break going right into Big Energy's pockets? Star Wars threatening the readiness of the military when Bush lied about one division not being ready under Clinton? Alienating all our allies? Bush claiming he was for Kyoto and Patient's Bill Of Rights? Acting like he has a mandate for any of this stuff? The almost daily mini PR moves to try and camouflage his true agenda? Trying to buy Mexican American votes by offering citizenship for all Mexicans?
Stating he's for education when Jeffords was so disgusted with his real plan he switched parties? Spending 42% of his time vacationing (in Time Magazine today)? Stating the arsenic bill was not deliberate? Stating we were in for worse and worse energy crises? Stating he and Cheney would fix the problem? Colluding with OPEC to raise oil prices again? Filling his White House with oil execs and industry lobbyists? In six months time he's already made more corrupt dishonest moves than any other president in 8 years with the possible exception of Nixon. All deliberate, all at our expense, all big lies, don't you see? You can back this guy if you want but I trust you'll be in the small minority in the not too distant future. And many fellow Republicans know. They know what a wrong pick their party made. Watch more and more of them come out and distance themselves from Bush before the next elections.
