The underlying point I was making (which you seem to have studiously missed) was that it was the lack of planning, the refusal to address the growing energy needs of Californians *until* it became a full blown perceived crisis.

California had an energy planning arm in the California energy commission. Increased electrical needs were identified and the utilities were urged to increase electrical capacity.

The utilities squawked and the FERC backed them. The planning commission was effectively told they were no longer needed as a planning entity as the free market would provide that function.

Mrs. Peel,

Well, that is one of the most entertaining re-writes of history I've ever seen. I have to say, you do have a flair for fiction.

Does it cross you mind that it is the business of electrical utilities to provide electricity and not the normal role of government? It was only when the private system utterly failed that the state and its coffers were dragged into this tawdry affair.

I believe you will agree with me that it is pointless for us to carry on. You have your religious belief structure in place regarding the glory of markets and the evil of governmental oversight. That's OK, my parents are still Catholic and I accept that too. But I simply don't think you are dealing with the same reality that I am. And believe me, I pay attention, and I have a big clue as to what is going on in the boardrooms at ENE, DUK, PGE, EIX, etc. And it ain't even close to what you're deluding yourself with on this thread. I'd love to be more squishily polite, Mrs. Peel, but it's hard to do considering the transparency of your fabrications. Sorry, and I suppose....

Good Bye
