kodiak, to break the lull - someone pm'd me about HOC and a cursory TA and FA investigation was positive, although I don't trust stocks that have run up and are now meandering sideways. It even pays a decent dividend. But it's too late to go long with a favorable risk.

Hi Kodiak and all,

The way I see it, no one knows where tech is going near term, no one knows where energy demand is going near term and no one knows if the soft landing has touched down or whether the wheels may come off. In that setting it's hard to have an intelligent discussion of the likely trends mid term or short term. I have been playing it significant event to significant event. The next will be the econ data coming out this week and starting in the am. The next will be the fed meeting next week.

I'd like to add some intelligent discourse that would help us make some money but I don't know what it would be.

The only subsector that I know of that is going gangbusters in this environment in tech is the flat panel display companies who have called a bottom and are seeing significant ramps in orders. These are companies who are benefiting from the ramp up in prodution of, decreased cost of and therefor increased demand for flat panels. Unfortunately, I have ridden them up and think they are a little toppy now if the general market falters. My favorites are sagi, phtn, kopn, gnss and pxlw. I don't trust pxlw but the others are sound companies that have done well lately and should do well in the future.

If you are not doing it yet, it might be a good time to start paying attention to some of the biotech companies. Fortunes will be made and lost there and it seems like a good time to make some small bets and learn that market. The combination of technology, science and an aging baby boomer population make this an explosive sector.

I've been busy cleaning lately. g. Ed

Kody! >> Anyone, Dabum? have any interesting investment ideas for a fellow with 75% cash? Post only sure winners, of course. <<

You give the sector to focus on and I'll give you the winners! Garron-teed or your money back!

I would prefer sectors that do well into a slowing economy but I will be searching the entire stock world.
