The US exports Soya. Brazil exports commuter airplanes. The US subsidize farming. Brazil subsidize the regional airplane maker.
Then both of them -Canada's Bombardier in tow- go to square it of in the WTO. All three countries are for the free markets, but they have always a pocket of voters that have to bribed with subsidies. (Caterpillar, John Deer and the employees of Embraer nod their heads approvingly.)

The US is a third world country since it is the biggest exporter of a lot of farming output (J. K. Galbraith view). Then those bleeding hearts from developed countries come along saying how much they do not like poverty but they prefer to have their tax subsidize uncompetitive sectors of their own economies instead of letting the poorer countries export their way out of poverty.

Look carefully. See that big hand over there? Yes, it is governments hand messing up economies.
