Mixed bag of nuts. I don't think AMD makes much revenue from these chips.

I'm more interested in this comment

Robert, I have noticed in the past that there exist many levels of customers that resent change, and prefer to keep their current infrastructure. It becomes more and more difficult to cater to these companies, and I eventually expect major CPU manufacturers like AMD or Intel to be firm about their EOL schedules. Of course, if AMD does not have an equal or better alternative to offer, they would be making a big mistake. I don't know if AMD has an embedded version of their K7 generation, but such a design would certainly be prudent for them to launch before June 2002.
