Christopher, check on the Dell site. They may sell the machine with Win2K now with the option of getting the WinXP CD when it's released [maybe for a nominal fee, like $20]. I doubt you can get Win98 any more. It's WinME now.

I know about dislike: had big problems with a new Compaq and it's taken a couple of years to even consider that brand again. You can check ratings on the pcworld site, among others. PC World has new ratings almost every month.

One more thing: I initially checked into auctions but concluded it's not worth the risk. Often you don't even save money.

I use the laptop 95% of the time plugged in right next to my desktop PC, which I keep dark.
