"IBM will be in big trouble once 2002 rolls around, when all those tier-3/4 OEMs roll out their superior SOI Athlon designs. They are making the biggest mistake in their history! ;-)"

For all those who are grasping at hopes of SOI saving AMD this must be painfully ironic. IBM is selling AMD technology which AMD hopes will make them competitive again and at the same time saying we don't want your product anymore. This following Compaq looking at Sludgehammer specs and saying "we're going 100% Intel". Losses looming for Q3 and a price war AMD can't win. AMD must feel like Germany during the final days of WW2. Mortal blows. At best AMD faces the future as a value supplier once again. Can they get their costs in line to survive?
