You can't talk rationally to religious fundamentalists.
The church is now telling Africans not to wear condoms in AIDS infested communities. That really makes me mad. It's tantamount to murder. And discredits the church when they judge on stem cells, abortion and other matters as well stating they care so much about human life and even the potential for human life. Well what about real people who are already living and happen to want to have sex? As if the church owns and rules the human reproduction system. Most church leaders don't even have sex. How do they know to judge? "You don't playa the game you don't maka the rules", I say. It's very politically incorrect to criticize organized religion but I'll tell it like it is anyway. Sometimes they are just plain wrong and living in the dark ages. Not to mention sexist, hypocritical and prejudiced. Like in the Middle East where fundamentalism fosters war/terrorism on both sides. In Africa and other places where it denies human sexuality and orders no condoms or protected sex. Telling me those people deserve to go to heaven, if there is one? And where it tells teenaged mothers and even grown women they cannot safely and sanely abort and have to have their babies even if raped or impregnated by some creep they don't want in their life, or in any situation where pregnancy will damage or destroy their life's dreams. In short they are trying to outlaw sex outside marriage and put the S for shame on womens foreheads again. I think it's time the majority spoke up a bit more and kept church out of state and bedroom matters. And off womens bodies, not to mention mens. We're just giving the church too much power again and they are showing dictatorial traits as they used to which we all know now led us onot to repression. Yes respect their views and consider their moral arguments. But also don't be afraid to stand up to them. They don't have a monopoly on righteousness. It's gone too far out of fear of alienating that organized (but minority) voting block. Bush isn't even personally religious and he's kowtowing to most of what they tell him. So are other political leaders. Just say no to religious irrationality and make it safe for our leaders to do so too when they are clearly in the right. Example of how wrong the church can be sometimes. seattletimes.nwsource.com Though much of the time the church is a good thing, I know. Or at least spiritual righteousness is, in whatever form that may take, and that's a personal issue.
