US-equipped "non-democratic and oppressive regimes in the region" is the flip side of cheap oil.... As is a US equipped Israeli military that is aimed like a knife at those Arab nations who feel arrogant enough to launch another oil embargo, simply because the US was helping to defend a nation that was suffering from an unprovoked attack by Egypt, and Syria. You know it's called "balance of power", or more appropriately "balance of terror". Hawk
