assumption that intel would bring their fabs to a maximum capacity put them in very vulnerable state in unpredictable market. I doubt that intel would bet their farm that demand would not rebound because the loss would not be just in unit sales but in market share.
Intel rather hopes that MHz put amd out of the picture. The sad result that is reported by some analysts is that sales dropped after the price cut news release as buyers stay away from the market.
The only goal that intel achieved is to hurt amd at the expense of their own shareholders and market in total. Nice going intel...
