Telecomunicacoes de Sao Paulo SA (TSP), or Telesp, provides fixed-line and data communications services in Brazil's wealthiest state, Sao Paulo.

Most analysts dropped coverage of the stock after parent company Telefonica SA (TEF) held a tender offer to buy up roughly 90% the unit's free float about a year ago as part of a strategy to consolidate its international holdings along business lines.

Telesp said net income, EBITDA and net revenue rose about 25% each in the first half from a year earlier.

The carrier's lines in service rose to 12 million at June 30, a rise of 30% from a year earlier. During the first half, the company spent BRR2.46 billion expanding its network, about 87% more than was invested in the same period a year ago.

Telesp said uncollected bills amounted to about 2.4% of revenue in the latest period, about flat from a year earlier.
