I think it works like this: Let's says Distributor A buys 10,000 Athlons @ $140 knowing that price cuts are on the way so the contract has some price protection built-in where the Distributor always gets the lower price on existing stock at the time of notification of lower pricing by AMD.

So when AMD notifies them that any new orders will be @ $100, the distributor says "hey we have 2000 units left, if you want us to order another 10,000 unit batch, lower these leftovers to $100" effectively receiving a $40 credit per unit still in stock.

Andreas, P4 1.4 is $158 25% off is $39 which would bring the TBird 1.4 to $118.5 ( I think that's where the 1.4 will settle ). It seems that AMD is still discounting their CPUS to 25% off equivalent frequency Intel CPUS regardless of performance.
