I think COMPX will be sideways to up into option expiration. AMAT news will be positive or ignored -- for a couple days. Then after expiration -- about the time of the new moon -- about the time the average touches the downward sloping resistance, the COMPX will continue down.

Profits are small or actually losses for many companies, an profits will stay small until more competitors go bankrupt or are acquired. Fewer competitors means the survivors can charge enough to stay afloat or even make money. Some companies are going to find that customers don't value their service enough to pay its true costs -- think wireless ISPs (already happened), think storage.

The money flow for mutal fund recently has been net redemptions. Net outflows every week means game over, shorts can sell and wait. The outflow data needs confirmation, but if you wait for the trend to be truly validated, the opportunity may have passed. Whichever money manager steps up and buys during net outflows is going to be the bagholder.
