If they invest so heavily in reforestation (a poor substitute for a real forest) why are so many places still clear-cut after to many years and decades? There's a saying "if a tree falls and nobody hears it, did it really fall"? That is one fact we must all realize. Most of the real damage has been done in places not visible from the road, hidden places which we were grand forests now standing barren as if from a violent act of God. Those hidden places are the scenes of the real crimes. And all over the world, especially in tropical rain forests.

Maxxam clear-cut many old-growth forests to pay off their junk bonds. The companies have their priorities. Re-forestation isn't one of them, and re-forestation doesn't work either, just a paltry subsitute. No human nor creature has ever really enjoyed a second or third growth forest. They are just sterile tree farms with little bio-diversity. The soul has already been cut out of them, if you know what I mean.
