>>no way jdsu could have sold their shares for cash.<<

totally agree. however, they probably could have gotten some cash - more than they did. that is why a future focus needs to play THE important role.

wrt pe, it hasn't mattered for a number of years now.

my investing theme over the past 4 years has been that we were in a bubble and it would burst eventually - we would see historical valuations again. i was floored by the power of manipulated govt productivity numbers and the effects of the positive spiral.

my theme is clear now, too. NO bubble in WORLD HISTORY has ever ended without some SERIOUS casualties and this was the grand daddy of ALL bubble markets in world history.

therefore, i think it gets worse. much worse. the negative spiral will probably amaze the bulls as much as the positive spiral amazed me.

greenspan was asked if the bubble was worth it if we have already seen the worst of its effects. his answer was "yes." before the serious market dislocations work their way through the system, imho, alan's answer will be "oh my god, no!"

the historical odds point to a probability at or near 100%.
