And which sources are these? From Intel? VIA? The Good Humour Man? Or Anand's Father's Brother-in-Law's Friend's Uncle's 2nd Cousin's Former Room Mate? I've seen xbitlabs put VIA P4X266 pricing at $25. Not even Intel charges a licensing fee that nearly equals the cost of the product. A better conspiracy theory wouldn't even show up on The Days of our Lives.
