Neither. So you're an expert on genetic biology? And you're anti stem cell research?

Those are not my issues.

However, as a silviculturist I have to know about genetics. I built a seed orchard that produced seed for trees that grow much faster by selecting out the genes that don't perform. We do this by observing how well the parent's progeny perform under a variety of environments. The best tree parents are cultivated for more seed and the poorest are sent to the glue factory. That way we can get enough boards to build your house from less clearcutting.

My trees are as promiscuous as the wind. In fact, most kinds of trees have both male and female reproductive organs. Except under controlled artificial pollination, it is possible to know only one of the two parents of a tree seed.

The answer to my pop quiz is ...

...zero.

And I should have mentioned that genes come in pairs, one from each parent.
The question:
OK, what's the probability that a male organism with a homozygous recessive gene mating with a female having a heterozygous gene will produce an offspring with a homozygous dominant gene?
