If SA goes to civil war, no one will invest there. Would you invest in Israeli tourism? "Visit our bustling sidewalk Cafes! Have a blast!"

I tried to get some people to invest in offshore diamonds there some years ago and all you hear was whispers about land claims and strife. Nobody wanted to put a dollar in. If people want private land with vanadium, iron, gold diamonds etc., I can get it but no-one in this country will invest. Of course, they don't understand diamonds or honest companies anyway. They will put millions with incompetents and shysters like TNK, or SAF, or DMW because they look like a paper blowout, but not one penny for development or that kind of risk. Dome mines sank millions into a takeover of Western Deep Levels, but they are famous for blowing the bank on big mistakes (Indonesia, Hunter Dickinson).

If I am to interpret you correctly in whether the whites should sell and run, is that democractic process may operate by threat, and forced sale is the peoples' righteous expropriation? Perhaps I am not taking that fairly, but it seemed that was the subtext. It may be the smart thing to do but I guarantee you they won't do it. All that becomes is a power grab like the FLQ/Bloc boys. It isn't anything to do with racial perceptions, its all about "we can win if we shoot often enough." Justification for this cannot take any moral high ground here. I don't see that the Boer was that evil inherently. He was perhaps paranoid and insular about democracy but in the end we can see that he was not that crazy. It is apparent to me that the groups in South Africa, the whites, the Zulu, and the Bantu, not to mention some others, cannot work it out any better than the Hutu and the Tutsi. In that case they should live apart until the human race grows up.
