Your post was no less a misrepresentation than mine. Are you absolutely certain Intel will maintain its lead in power consumption in notebooks? Are you absolutely certain AMD's substantially better performing SMP machines won't seriously damage Intel's server business? (and I am absolutely certain about the performance advantage AMD has) Intel was absolutely certain its 1.13GHZ PIII was a winner and it was absolutely certain its rambus chipsets were winners and it was absolutely certain that the MTH was a reliable product. There is no "absolutely certain" in the leading edge semi business. I do know AMD had been working with 193 nm steppers, copper, and SOI for years. I do know that AMD is far and away the leader in high performnace, high volume copper CPUs - with years more experience and insight into these processes at high volume than anyone else in the industry. And I know that it had this uniquely higher level of experience when it took the rather extraordinary step of building a mini-FAB on the roof of its only high profit FAB in order to accommodate SOI. Draw your own conclusion - just be sure you're "absolutely certain" that you know every detail about what will transpire over the next several quarters.
