As the downward trend in prices of chips has continued in spite of chip production being below cost, device manufacturers are starting to fear that any possible happening among chip makers might occur -- drastic tie-ups, streamlining of business and reduction on production -- because they know these factors may cause price fluctuations. According to a worldwide DRAM price survey conducted by ICIS-LOR, based in London, Houston, and Singapore, the 30-day rolling average prices of 128Mb DRAMs (PC133, 16M x 8) up until July 27 (from June 28-July 27) for large-volume users were US$2.63 in North America, US$2.67 in Europe, and US$2.55 in Asia. Compared with the previous week (30-day rolling average prices through July 20), the prices fell 6.75 percent in North America, 7.47 percent in Europe and 8.20 percent in Asia. As for memory-module prices, the spot prices of 128MB DIMMs (PC133) fell 3.59 percent to US$15.34 in North America, compared with the previous week, and they fell 6.37 percent to US$15.03 in Europe and 4.35 percent to US$13.74 in Asia.
