It should have happened a few days ago but didn't due to the well timed HDS "news" release.

Amazed at SUNW's resilience so far today.
Don't think it has got much left though. Nice timing on the HDS thing to prop this up before the inevitable decline.

My opinion would be to place your sell order before everyone else does.

I am neither serious nor thoughtful, but I showed up.

BEAS and EMC aren't doing so hot today either. I think it has partly to do with the item that came out yesterday reporting that Janus had dumped a lot of its holdings in SUNW, EMC, CSCO and ORCL. There's news about the billion $ IBM push into Linux on the wires that says it might be more competition to SUNW.

I think as part of the billion $ XP launch spinup there's already an increase in the level of Itanic/Wintel-eating-Sun's-lunch background hiss.

Then there's always the little list of side issues: the economy shows no particular signs of recovery, Sun has done nothing of note lately except lose money, and everybody expects the market to tank in September and October.

Other than that, I can't think of anything.

The tech stocks as a group (sector) are performing poorly. UNIX server market has virtually dried up. I just bought some more SUNW. I think that a couple of well placed good news stories will create traction and movement. What do I mean? Real stories of optimism in a sea of pessimism will lift SUNW. Will the sector ever rebound? I believe it will! There is a required replacement cycle that companies will go through plus all the R&D SUNW is doing will pay off. I see inherent value now in SUNW. As companies make more money they will naturally spend more on technology.

Dear Frank: If you are short term oriented the NASD is looking very dangerous. If it drops below say 1905 it COULD drop to 1,600 or so. I imagin that scares the bejabbers out of funds and causes others to hold back on buying till they see which way this market will go. If you got the cash, good times are a coming to accumulate. Those of us already in can only wait and pray. (gg) JDN
