Actually the longest professional baseball game went 33 innings in 1981. The AAA Pawtucket Red Sox beat the Rochester Red Wings in 8 1/2 hours. The longest major league game, in 1920 between the Boston Braves and the Brooklyn Dodgers, went 26 innings.

Also, the Mariners and Red Sox played 19 innings just last year - and I don't recall either team running out of pitchers. That's why they carry 10-12 of 'em!
